“ First visit last week. Greeted by a very friendly man who gave us a choice of where to sit, rather than the table they had designated for our booking. Then a really nice girl came and gave us menus and took drink orders. We took ages to order as we were sitting talking and not once were we approached by staff wanting us to hurry up, there is a light on the table that you illuminate when you are ready to order, great idea. The food was very nice, well cooked, tasty and at just the right spice level. The place itself is clean and very today but a bit lacking in atmosphere, could do with some colour to brighten it up but it didn't put us off going again, which we will most certainly do before too long. Pity we live too far away to make Shavans handy for take away. Highly recommended. ”
“ Never had a bad experience at Shavans. It is a little on the pricey side if you’re not planning on sharing meals. The butter chicken is amazing and we get a large rice and it is enough for the 2 of us. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. ”
“ The Indian restaurant for those that don't like indian or spicy food; mild, and lacking flavour. If you like your butter chicken as sugary tomato paste and cream and don't like spice, you'll love it. Definately a 'curry' place for the stereotypical white person (I'm white but I love tasty food). If you want real indian food, go elsewhere. Plenty of choice in Dandenong and elsewhere. Had the Royal Banquet. Starters were great. Delicious samosa, tandoor lamb and chicken, mouths were watering in anticipation of the mains. But they were very very disappointing. Coconut prawn curry and butter chicken were terribly bland, almost no spice at all, the butter chicken; meat was tender and delicious but sauce had almost no flavour at all, it was sweet tomato cream and that's all. The lamb rojan josh was the only dish that tasted like curry, the meat was tender and delicious, sauce was very tasty but overly salty (and I'm a salt fiend, so if I find it salty, I know it must be pretty bad). Stir fry vegetables were great. Naan was nice, very fresh. Dessert was decent and to my taste better than average, not overly sweet. Mango lassi was good. Just a shame how disappointing and bland the mains were. We brought virtually all the main course home in takeaway, planning on making them tastier tomorrow. We are both good cooks, so we'll spunk them up tomorrow. Don't think we'll ever go back ”

“ We are not locals so searched best Indian in Pakenham. We were not disappointed. The house special cheese Naan was worth a trip from Melbourne. I had tandoori mushrooms as entree and ate the whole serving which was enough for 2 to 4 people. Kids had Butter Chicken. 1 between 2 was enough for them (we even took some home) . I had the coconut curry prawns. What a find! So glad I googled ”
